Prayer Requests

Jesus teaches that to love "thy neighbour as thyself" is the second of the 2 greatest commandments, second only to, "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."

Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:35 - 40

And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.      Mark 12:28 - 31

In James 5:16 we receive another important prayer direction, "... and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. In Galatians 6:2, Paul teaches us to Bear ye one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Even in the most difficult of times Jesus gives important counsel in Matthew 5:43 - 48 that can help us endure:
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more [than others]? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Love for our neighbor compels us to pray for those who would ask it and our deep faith assures us that prayers offered through Jesus Christ will be heard. God knows what we need before we ask for it and we can trust that He will answer all prayer in His due time and manner.

The tragedy of the horriffic school shootings of the Amish children at their school in Nickle Mines Pennsylvania which resulted in at least 5 deaths is beyond the grasp of comprehension. The community is admirably responding with Christian kindness. Amish families are showing tender concern even for the family of the alleged murderer, Charles Carl Roberts IV. Please hold all those effected in prayer - the many victims, their families and friends, the family of Charles Carl Roberts IV, and the community at large.

Aside from this prayer request, contributions to the Nickel Mine School Victims Fund may be sent to the following:
